Project Description

Ballard prepared the work plan and performed on-site third party quality control inspection service for this $3.4M project.  This project repaired the existing roof drains and skylights at the US Army Brooke Army Medical Center (the largest medical center in the Department of Defense) in the Medical Mall and Clinic Roof locations.

All work plan designs were in conformance with the requirements of the NFPA, UFC 3‐600‐01, UFC 4‐510‐01, and all Local, State and Federal codes plus the Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) specifications. Noisy and disruptive repairs abatement, infection control and patient safety care were all requirements included in the work plan.  Building 3600 of the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC) Complex and the roof/skylight areas to be repaired were approximately 17‐18 years old.

Building 3600 is a Level 1 Trauma Center Medical Center and the work plan was issued to ensure the medical center would remain in operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year during the entire construction period.  Work was completed on time and exceptional performance ratings were awarded to the contractor and designer.
